“I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isa. 43: 19
In 2019, FCC was actively engaged in searching for a settled pastor and future goal setting. Then, the Pandemic struck and everyone retreated to the safety of home. Our lives have changed dramatically. Our sense of time is distorted. Every day is “Blursday” While it’s necessary to stop a pandemic, we are isolated, tired and thirsting for connection. Friends, a light shines at the “end of the tunnel.” We remain trusting in God’s providential care as we yearn for ways to stay tuned in to God’s loving purposes. Here are four initiatives which speak to our desire to be a vitalized community in a post-pandemic world.
Initiative #1: -Develop action plan for Youth Ministry Programs; (Deb M.)
How are we to care for our youth. This initiative is for the teacher or parent in us all. Structured conversations will help us to review the past. What works and what does not? What can FCC do, soon, to support our young people to “rebound” from a stifling Pandemic.
Initiative #2: - Join a Small Group/Faith Formation as part of Becoming A " Beloved Community" ; (Pastor Peter)
Would you like to deepen your faith and grow in your ability to share it? This initiative will get us talking about a life that matters; a vitalized faith that makes a difference. Initially, we will meet for one hour, once a month. Leadership will rotate so that all who have a desire will have the opportunity to lead. Active listening, refraining from cross-talk, and confidences will be honored. Regular devotions (daily prayer, Bible study, short readings, journaling, etc.) will be encouraged. In short, this is about knowing Jesus better and sensing how much God loves us.
Initiative #3: -Share your vision for growth through Music; (Doug E.)
Broad support for the pipe organ renovations has the “renovation committee” reimagining the role music can play in revitalizing the community. Anyone shares such a vision is encouraged to join this group and share in shaping this ministry. What is your favorite genre of music? Can you imagine a public concert series? Is there any interest in a music academy to raise up the next generation of musicians? The sky is the limit!
Initiative #4: -Participate in our Missions Listening Campaign; (Toni B.)
Learning how the Pandemic has affected God’s people, near and far, is essential for our Missions team to appropriately respond to the needs of others. Plans are underway to schedule interviews with community leaders and those who’re struggling economically, physically, even spiritually. Do you know a courageous health care employee, a teacher or essential worker - someone with a story to share? Your involvement in recruiting and scheduling interviews (on Zoom) would be an awesome gift to our church.
Whichever initiative appeals, sign up today. Only together can a “new thing” God is doing become a sustainable ministry. Want to know more? Contact Pastor Peter at [email protected] Or call (603) 279-6271.
